2. Booking a session
Simply book online or call 08 7200 1130 Session cost: $110 / 50 min If you have a GP referral via Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), you can claim a Medicare rebate Meeting points within Adelaide metro areas along Torrens River, Botanic Gardens or Beachside
3. Pre-session briefing
Before your first Walk and Talk session, we will ask some basic health and safety questions and answer any questions you may have. This can be done over the phone or via email.
4. Walk and Talk session
On the day of our first session, we will meet at the agreed location Sessions are 50 minutes long
Adelaide Walk and Talk therapy is provided by a fully qualified, registered and experienced psychologist. The therapy combines standard evidence-based practice with exposure to 'real world' / natural environment and exercise, which strengthen the recovery process.
Is Walk and Talk therapy confidential?
All sessions are confidential. We do not share your information with any third party. We are, however, legally obligated to notify police if there is immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, including children. Walk and talk sessions take place in quiet natural settings.
Can I get a Medicare rebate for Walk and Talk sessions?
Yes. Medicare rebates are available for clients with diagnosed mental health condition, but you will need to get a Mental health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP.
Can I get this service if I am under 18 years of age?
Yes, Walk and Talk therapy can be very helful for young people who might find psychology clinics confronting. If you are under 18 years of age, we will ask for your parent/guardian consent to participate. Our psychologists have current Police clearance which can be presented on request.
What payment options are available?
Payments need to be made in full on the day of the session. If you are booking online, we require your credit card details to reserve the session but you will not be charged until the end of scheduled session. We accept Credit card or Cash payments.
What if I need to cancel the session?
You can change or cancel your booking until 24 hours before your session. All no shows will be charged the full amount.
What if it's raining on too hot during the session?
We find that Adelaide climate is very conducive to outdoor activities all year round. But some days can be just too hot or rainy. Our policy is to let our client decide if the conditions are uncomfortable. A slight drizzle or temperatures below 34 degrees are ok for us.
How fast do we walk?
Walk and Talk therapy is not geared for speedwalking. In fact, slower pace is preferable for some conditions. We let the client decide the pace and we plan the walks to be back at the starting point in 50 minutes.
Are there any risks associated with Walk and Talk therapy?
Walk and Talk therapy is safe. However, clients who are too unwell or unable to engage in the therapy may not be suitable for Walk and Talk therapy. All new clients participate in a brief pre-therapy interview (usually 10-15 minutes long). We ask questions and provide information to ensure a good therapeutic fit (meaning that Walk and Talk therapy is a good choice for you). We are not an emergency mental health service.
