Adelaide Walk and Talk therapy is provided by a fully qualified, registered and experienced psychologist. The therapy combines standard evidence-based practice with exposure to 'real world' / natural environment and exercise, which strengthens recovery process.
Is Walk and Talk therapy confidential?
All session content is confidential. We do not share your information with any third party. The only exception is when we are obligated to notify police if there is immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, including children.
Can I get a Medicare rebate for Walk and Talk sessions?
Yes. Medicare rebates are available for clients with diagnosed mental health condition, but you will need to get a Mental health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP.
Can I get this service if I am under 18 years of age?
Yes, Walk and Talk therapy can be very helful for young people who might find psychology clinics confronting. If you are under 18 years of age, we will ask for your parent/guardian consent to participate. Our psychologists have current Police clearance which can be presented on request.
What payment options are available?
Payments need to be made in full on the day of the session. If you are booking online, we require your credit card details to reserve the session but you will not be charged until the end of scheduled session. We accept Credit card or Cash payments.
What if I need to cancel the session?
You can change or cancel your booking until 24 hours before your session. All no shows will be charged the full amount.
What if it's raining on too hot during the session?
We find that Adelaide climate is very conducive to outdoor activities all year round. But some days can be just too hot or rainy. Our policy is to let our client decide if the conditions are uncomfortable. A slight drizzle or temperatures below 34 degrees are ok for us.
How fast do we walk?
Walk and Talk therapy is not speed walking. In some instances, slower pace can be preferable. We let you decide the pace and we plan the walks to be back at the starting point in 50 minutes.
Are there any risks associated with Walk and Talk therapy?
Walk and Talk therapy is safe. All new clients participate in a brief pre-session interview (usually 10-15 minutes). We want to ensure that Walk and Talk therapy is the right choice for you and that you will feel comfortable throughout the session.
